Vermont Conversations – The Ripple Effect: How Drug Abuse Contributes to Social Disorder and Crime
September 17 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
MANCHESTER, Vt. – Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) is excited to present the final program in their series, “Vermont Conversations: Imagining Our Future”. This series intends to spark civil discourse as we delve into topics crucial to our state and envision a viable future together. The topics this year in the four-part series included healthcare, business, and early childhood education.
For the final program, “The Ripple Effect: How Drug Abuse Contributes to Social Disorder and Crime,” GMALL welcomes Col. James Baker, former chief of the Vermont State Police and current head of JW Leadership Consulting LLC, to give the keynote address of the series. The history of illegal drugs and drug crimes is a complex tapestry woven with evolving trends and law enforcement responses. From the emergence of the opiate crisis to the impact it has on communities, this talk will delve into the origins and what is recognized as failing in addressing this pressing issue. And as the intersection of public safety and public health is becoming increasingly apparent, what can local communities do? The series is sponsored by The Keelan Family Foundation.
