SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – On Sunday morning, Oct. 5, Springfield Elks Lodge 1560 had five competitors travel to Saint Albans, Vt., and compete in the Vermont State Elks Soccer Shoot. The competitors were Anaiya Rigney, Beckham Rounds, Quinn Carafiello, George Whalen, and his brother Porter Whalen.
Our lodge representatives came away with four trophies. In the Girls U8 (age 7 and under) division, Rigney placed third. Carafiello took second place in the Girls U12 (ages 10 and 11) division. George Whalen placed first in the Boys U12 (ages 10 and 11) division, while his brother Porter Whalen placed second in the Boys U14 (ages 12 and 13) division.
George Whalen will be representing the Springfield Elks Lodge and the State of Vermont Elks Association at the regional Soccer Shoot on Saturday, Nov. 8, in Dover, N.H. Congratulations to all our winners, and we wish the best of luck to George as he heads to the regionals.
