SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – On Saturday, Jan. 31, the Northern New England Golden Gloves brought together the top amateur boxers from Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine for a night of high-level competition and championship bouts.

In the premier heavyweight division, Angelo Plausteiner stepped into the ring to face a formidable opponent from Maine in the tournament final. After a hard-fought match, Plausteiner came up short, earning a silver medal and finishing as runner-up in the championship bout for the Northern New England Golden Gloves title.

The fight marked a significant milestone in Plausteiner’s boxing career. It was his first appearance competing in the men’s division, following notable success at the junior level, where he previously captured the Northern New England Golden Gloves title twice. Making the jump to the open men’s heavyweight class, Plausteiner demonstrated resilience, composure, and the skillset that has made him one of the region’s most promising boxers.

The Springfield Boxing Club proudly congratulates Plausteiner on his achievement, and thanks him for representing the team with dedication, sportsmanship, and heart on one of New England’s most respected amateur boxing stages.
