BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – Bellows Falls Union High School (BFUHS), along with the Bellows Falls Elks Lodge 1619, is proud to announce that Jakeb Tostrup has been selected as the January Elks Student of the Month, an honor recognizing students who demonstrate outstanding character, leadership, academic effort, and meaningful contributions to their school and community.
Tostrup consistently approaches his education with dedication and a strong work ethic, balancing his coursework at Bellows Falls Union High School with his studies at the River Valley Technical Center in the business and financial services program. His commitment to learning, perseverance, and responsible attendance reflects the high standards of this award. Tostrup is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society, highlighting his dedication to scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
Tostrup’s leadership and involvement extend well beyond the classroom. As senior captain of the football team, he played a key role in leading his team to a state championship in the fall of 2025, modeling accountability, teamwork, and steady leadership. He is also a significant contributor on the varsity baseball team, where his discipline and commitment to continuous improvement are evident. In addition, Tostrup serves as southern state vice president of Future Business Leaders of America, and as treasurer of the senior class, roles that reflect his professionalism, integrity, and the trust placed in him by peers and staff.
Tostrup is equally committed to service within the broader community. He has volunteered with the Connecticut Valley Pee Wee Football League and the Bellows Falls Junior League for baseball, giving back to younger athletes, and has supported school productions as a stagehand for the BFUHS Drama Club. Through both leadership and service, Jake consistently demonstrates kindness, responsibility, and respect for others.
