CLAREMONT, N.H. – The Claremont MakerSpace (CMS) is pleased to announce the launch of its annual summer teacher program, an initiative designed to provide K-12 educators with affordable access to creative tools, hands-on learning opportunities, and professional development throughout the summer months.
Beginning June 1, regional teachers can enroll in the program and receive a 40% discount on a three-month Claremont MakerSpace membership, giving them “unlimited” membership to the facility – from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m., seven days per week – and its wide range of equipment, resources, and educational opportunities.
The summer teacher program was created to help educators explore new skills, develop classroom projects, and engage in meaningful professional growth while connecting with a community of makers, innovators, and lifelong learners.
“CMS started the program two years ago to provide local teachers with learning opportunities over the summer,” said Felicia Dalke, executive director at Claremont MakerSpace. “One SAU actually covered the summer membership for a teacher who learned a completely new skill set, then taught those skills to their students in the following semester, which is a great success story.”
Participants will have access to Claremont MakerSpace’s extensive workshops and equipment, including woodworking, metalworking, electronics, robotics, sewing, laser cutting, 3D printing, and more. Educators can use the space to create classroom materials, prototype lesson ideas, learn new skills, or simply pursue personal creative projects.
In addition to discounted membership, teachers will have the opportunity to participate in professional development activities, including an opportunity to learn about the innovative Novel Engineering approach to reading comprehension through a partnership with White Mountain Science. This workshop is free to any teacher in the Upper Valley.
The Summer Teacher Program reflects Claremont MakerSpace’s ongoing commitment to supporting education, workforce development, and lifelong learning throughout the region.
The program is open to K-12 educators throughout the region and runs for three months from the date of sign-up. Teachers can sign up anytime from June 1 to June 30.
