BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – Bellows Falls Union High School (BFUHS) and the Bellows Falls Elks Lodge 1619 are pleased to recognize senior Lilyth Joy as the May Elks Student of the Month.
The Elks Student of the Month program recognizes students who demonstrate academic achievement, positive attitude, strong character, dependability, contributions to school life, and meaningful service to their community. Lilyth has consistently exemplified these qualities throughout her high school career and has earned the respect of her peers, teachers, and community members.
The daughter of Brian Joy, of Bellows Falls, Lilyth is known for her creativity, strong work ethic, and commitment to both her school and community. In the classroom, she is a thoughtful and engaged student who contributes meaningful insights to discussions and approaches learning with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Joy’s teachers describe her as a creative, hardworking, and thoughtful student who consistently demonstrates maturity, kindness, and a genuine passion for learning. She is known for contributing meaningful insights to classroom discussions, listening respectfully to the perspectives of others, and confidently sharing her own ideas in a positive and constructive manner. Her willingness to support classmates and engage thoughtfully in conversations helps create a welcoming and collaborative learning environment. A talented artist, Joy has made a lasting impact on the BFUHS community through both her artistic abilities and her willingness to support others. Her passion for art is evident not only in her work, but also in the thoughtful discussions she helps foster about artistic expression, interpretation, and creativity.
Joy has used her artistic talents to make a meaningful impact both within BFUHS and throughout the community. This year, she assisted Project Graduation by creating graphics and helping design the fall sports program fundraiser, created a mock cemetery display for the Pierce-Lawton Unit 37 Memorial Day exhibit honoring military veterans, and volunteered at the Main Street Arts yard sale in support of local arts programming. These contributions reflect her creativity, generosity, and commitment to serving others. In addition to her accomplishments at BFUHS, Joy has been accepted into the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Maine College of Art & Design, where she plans to continue pursuing her passion for the arts.
Bellows Falls Union High School and Bellows Falls Elks Lodge 1619 congratulate Joy on this well-deserved recognition and wish her continued success as she begins this exciting next chapter.
