BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – Bellows Falls Union High School (BFUHS), in conjunction with the Bellows Falls Elks Lodge 1619, is pleased to announce that Saul James has been named the September Elks Student of the Month. James, a junior at BFUHS, lives in Bellows Falls, and is the son of Jarrod and Jill James.
Nominations for this honor come from teachers and staff who recognize students for their academic effort, positive attitude, attendance, and contributions to their school and community.
James approaches learning with curiosity, a willingness to ask questions and take academic risks, and a commitment to giving his best effort. He is consistently engaged in class, and his patience with classmates helps create a supportive learning environment. He also attends River Valley Technical Center, where he participates in the business management and entrepreneurship program.
Known for his maturity, politeness, and sense of humor, James brings positivity to the classroom and treats others with kindness and respect throughout the school. He demonstrates perseverance through challenges, maintaining excellent attendance and remaining committed to his learning. His willingness to help others and stay true to his values sets a positive example for his peers.
A three-sport varsity athlete in football, basketball, and baseball, James has also served on student council for two years and is a member of the BFUHS Athletic Council. Through these groups, he helps build school spirit, organize spirit week and pep rallies, and support community service activities. His athletic council involvement also includes serving on the Athlete of the Month selection committee.
James’ dedication extends into the broader community as well. He has coached K-2 basketball for the Rockingham Recreation Department for two consecutive years, volunteered with the Elks Hoop Shoot, and assisted with practices, games, and camps for the Connecticut Valley Peewee Football League. At BFUHS, he has also helped teachers prepare classrooms for standardized testing.
