LUDLOW, Vt. – While the sun made a rare appearance on Thursday, June 19, the large deck outside Rachael Rogala Inc., a new boutique real estate brokerage at 110 Main Street in Ludlow, was warm, breezy, and inviting. Even as loud trucks rumbled by and traffic navigated through the downtown road construction zone, Rogala was unbothered.
Visitors are welcome to walk through the front door whenever they see an open sign hanging on it, into the pleasant, thoughtfully designed, nontraditional office space. There they will be greeted by the owner, Rogala, and her well-trained and loyal dog Lily.
With her dynamic energy and a motivated and enterprising approach to success, 33-year-old Rogala has created a robust business model for herself. “I am a serial entrepreneur at heart,” Rogala admitted. “I like building things, branding them beautifully, and watching them thrive.”
Rogala said she has always been passionate about aesthetics, and possesses “an insatiable need for understanding all aspects of projects I dive into.” Just 26 when she got her realtor’s license, Rogala has sold houses in the Okemo Valley for seven years, and maintains a satellite office in Rutland at 26 Center Street. She is part of the sales team at John R. Wood Christie’s International Real Estate in Naples, Fla., and owns and operates long- and short-term rental properties along the eastern seaboard.
Grateful for the knowledge and experience gained while working for a well-established real estate company in Ludlow, at the same time Rogala realized she wanted to express her own unique perspective and style, and be her own boss. “This work gives me the kind of independence I live for. Boutique means personal. It means elevated. It means I get to do it my way on my time, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” Rogala stated.
Growing up, Rogala split her time between Rutland and Ludlow, and feels her personal knowledge of the area is key to being a good agent for her clients. She has lived in and visited many U.S. states, Mexico, Paris, Greece, and the Netherlands. But Rogala maintains that, “Vermont is still my favorite place to be.”
Her natural eye for design landed her a job at Vogue in Manhattan, an experience Rogala described as “very demanding, brilliant, and creative.” Rogala earned her bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, and communication from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she graduated cum laude in 2016.
While living in New York, Rogala spent most weekends traveling to Vermont to ski, and when her father was trying to sell his house in Mount Holly, Rogala restyled the interior, staged the home for showings, and the property went under contract after years on the market. Rogala got her real estate license six months later, and began working for the brokerage that had sold her dad’s house. She hasn’t stopped since.
