SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – You won’t want to miss the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center’s Springfield Dam Run on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 4-7:30 p.m. This year, the Dam Run will take place entirely within the Army Corps of Engineers’ property, at the Springfield Dam on Reservoir Road.
The evening will start at 5 p.m., with our classic Kids’ Half-Mile Fun Run for ages 12 and under. This closed-trail event is safe, exciting, and a great way to introduce younger children to running events, and it’s free. All children 12 and under who register for one of our three races will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a youth mountain bike.
Following the Kids’ Fun Run is the Maniac Mile, a brand-new one-mile sprint for individuals ages 10 and older. How fast can you go? A $200 cash prize will be given to the top male and female finishers of the race, and participants in the Maniac Mile will receive a Dam Run trucker hat.
And finally, don’t miss our traditional Springfield Dam Run 5K. Run or walk with your family, friends, coworkers, and community. Featuring trails, a slight elevation gain, fast downhills, and scenic views of Mount Ascutney, you won’t want to miss this race. This event is open to individuals of all ages. Dam Run participants will receive a race T-shirt featuring our brand-new Dam Run logo. Top male and female finishers will receive $200 worth of pork and beef from Vermont Raised Heritage Meats, a local farm in Springfield.
New and exciting this year, we’ve added a family fun zone to the Springfield Dam Run, featuring fun activities and food for the whole family. JC’s Market & Deli will be selling food and ice cream, Mona Frye will offer face painting, and the Keene Axe House will be on the scene with a bouncy house and a mobile axe-throwing unit. Everyone is invited and encouraged to join us in this celebration, whether or not you participate in – or spectate – the races.
A huge thank-you to our 2025 Springfield Dam Run sponsors: Gold – North Star Health and HB Energy Solutions; Silver – Mascoma Bank and The Springfield Barber Company; Bronze – 802 Credit Union, Black River Produce, Cannatrol, Claremont Savings Bank, Cota & Cota, Down to the Roots, Edward Jones Financial Advisor Amy L.
