Spencer Hollow Cemetery hike

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Join Friends of Skitchewaug (FOS) on Saturday, Oct. 31, for a hike to the historic cemetery on the old Crown Point Road. This moderately difficult walk will start at 10 a.m., at Ferguson Farm, 220 Spencer Hollow Road, and traverse through meadows and some relatively steep sections to the cemetery in the woods. Make new friends and mix with your neighbors as you celebrate the wildlife, natural beauty, and historic character of the Crown Point Road and Spencer Hollow neighborhood.

Longtime residents Brent LeDrew and Larry Drasler will contribute their knowledge of the history of the Crown Point Road and the cemetery itself.

Bug spray and sunscreen are a good idea, as are boots that can get wet as you walk through several culverts.

Keith and Gail Ferguson have generously offered use of their pavilion as the gathering point for the hike (park at the base of the pavilion) and as a place for lunch and refreshment afterwards. Bring your own lunch/drink to enjoy in the pavilion, or come around 12:30 p.m. to chat with neighbors after the hike.
