REGION – The Southern Vermont Astronomy Group (SoVerA) will host its next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8. If the weather cooperates, the meeting will be a star party at Mount Ascutney State Park. If the weather is bad, a regular meeting will be held at the 1879 Schoolhouse in Perkinsville.
If the weather is favorable, the group will gather at 7:30 p.m., in the upper parking lot of the Mount Ascutney State Park, at 1826 Back Mountain Road, Windsor, Vt. Plan to be at the entry gate no later than 7 p.m. for the drive up the mountain. Bring your own telescope or binoculars and a chair, or share the viewing through other members’ scopes.
If skies are mostly cloudy or worse, the group will meet at 7 p.m. at the 1879 Schoolhouse in Perkinsville, or via Zoom, the link can be found at www.sovera.org. Speaker Cale Shipman, a longtime lecturer on a wide variety of astronomy topics, will present “Aliens Everywhere” based on conversations which come up frequently when he does astronomy outreach.
In either case of weather and location, the meeting is open to the public.
