WESTON, Vt. – Tia Rosengarten, a devoted wife, mother, and philanthropist, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the age of 86. Tia was born on a snowy day in December 1939, in Bryn Mawr, Pa. – a beginning that seemed to reflect both the quiet beauty and inner strength she carried throughout her life.
Guided by her Christian faith, she touched countless lives with her generosity and genuine care. Tia was a devoted mother and philanthropist. Her passion for animals, education, and human rights reflected her deep compassion and commitment to making the world a better place. She found great meaning in supporting causes she believed in and extended her kindness not only to those close to her, but to the broader community as well. Her presence brought comfort, her laughter brought light, and her values will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
Tia enjoyed knitting, weaving, and quilting, finding joy in creating with her hands and expressing care through the things she made. These quiet, creative pursuits reflected her patience, thoughtfulness, and love of craftsmanship, and many will cherish the pieces she created for years to come.
Tia is survived by her daughter, Christine Darcas; her sons, Peter Rosengarten Jr. and Mitchell Rosengarten; and her grandchildren, Nathalie, Katherine, Etienne, and Gray. She is reunited with her beloved husband of 57 years, Peter. A service to celebrate Tia’s life will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 10 a.m., at the Old Parish Church in Weston, Vt., with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in her memory to the Dorset Equine Rescue, the Springfield Humane Society, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, or the American Indian College Fund. Tia Rosengarten will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
