Sophia M. Munson Green, 1944-2026

CHESTER, Vt. – Sophia M. Munson Green, 82, passed away peacefully at the Springfield Center for Living on Friday morning, Sept. 11, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 14, 1944, in Springfield, Vt., the daughter of Richard and Marion (Snide) Munson. She graduated from Springfield High School, Class of 1962.

On June 23,1962, she married David “Red” Green, of Springfield, Vt.

She was a homemaker, as well as employed in her mid-years as a seamstress for Bonnie Bundles.

She loved to doodle and was a great sketch artist who was very proud of designing the Springfield school seal, which is still used today.

She loved camping and baking, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Sinclair (Roger); her son, Steven Green (Michelle); her sister, Donna Peck; her brothers, Richard Munson, Rodney Munson, and Reginald Munson; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Casey, Michael, and Matthew; two great-grandchildren, Tucker and Brantley; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years and her parents.

A graveside service will be held Sept. 19, at 2 p.m., in the Oakland Cemetery in Springfield, Vt., With a celebration of life to follow directly after at her home, 94 Gould Road, Chester, Vt.

Davis Memorial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
