Lynda J. Farmer, 1944-2025

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Lynda J. Farmer, 81, died on Tuesday morning, Oct. 7, 2025, at Springfield Hospital. She was born Sept. 2, 1944, in Montpelier, Vt., the daughter of Forrest and Marjorie (Kitchin) Silloway. She graduated from Montpelier High School and Vermont College.

Lynda married Richard Farmer in 1984.

She was employed as a secretary at Springfield Hospital and Vermont Research for many years.

She was a more than 50-year member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Chester, Vt., and a longtime member of the American Legion Unit 67 Auxiliary and past unit president. She also served as state president for the Vermont American Legion Auxiliary, from 2017-2018.

Lynda worked with Vietnam veterans at the veterans center in White River Junction.

She is survived by her husband Richard, niece Erika Lique, cousins Connie and Roland Doucette, and many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and one sister Carolynn Silloway Johansen.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m., at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Chester, Vt. Burial will follow in the Middlesex Center Cemetery in Middlesex, Vt.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion in Chester, Vt., at a later date.

Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield is assisting with the arrangements.
