RUTLAND, Vt. – Leslie “Les” Wood, 67, passed away peacefully at The Pines in Rutland, Vt., on May 23, 2026. He was born March 2, 1959, to Ralph and Suzanne Wood.
Les graduated from West Hill School. After graduating, he worked several jobs until he chose painting as his career. He worked for Burke’s Painting Company until he retired.
Outside of work, Les loved being with his family and friends. He enjoyed sports, rock ‘n’ roll, TV, and just the simple things in life.
Les is survived by his mother, Suzanne Allen Wood, of Keene, N.H.; his brothers, Ronald (Bonnie) Wood, of Ludlow, Vt., and Michael (Dot) Wood, of North Carolina; his sister, Kathleen (Dave) Leitch, of Cavendish, Vt.; his nephews, Matthew Wood, of Proctorsville, Vt., and Robert Leitch, of Cavendish, Vt.; his niece, Amy Swisher, of Cavendish, Vt.; and cherished friends Donald and Donna Burke, and their two daughters, Jamie and Sharon, whom Les considered his nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Wood, of North Carolina.
There will be no calling hours or funeral, at Les’s request. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
