BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – Judith Ann King, 72, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, after being diagnosed with stomach cancer in August 2025. She was born in Bellows Falls, Vt. to the late George and Celia (Fidelski) Stoodley.
Judy graduated from Bellows Falls High School. After graduation, she attended Thompson Nursing School in Brattleboro, Vt., and became a licensed practical nurse, before practicing at Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Vt. She then earned a nursing degree from the University of New York. She was a registered nurse at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital for many years, and eventually retired as a school nurse in Claremont, N.H.
On April 26, 1997, she married Dr. Stephen Clark King in York, Maine.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Celia Stoodley, and brothers, Tom Stoodley and Bernard Stoodley.
Judy is survived by her husband, Stephen, of Reelsville, Ind.; her two children, Matthew Pixley (Dennise), of Alaska, and Rebecca Nareau (Jay), of Cavendish, Vt.; her sister, Jane Pixley (Howard), of Cavendish, Vt.; her brother, Bob (Sue), of Bellows Falls, Vt.; and her sister-in-law, Susan King Boes (Ed), of Lafayette, Ind. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with her best friends, Judy Smith, of Bellow Falls, Vt., Roxanne Bailey, of Charlestown, N.H., Bea Hobbes, of Claremont, N.H., and Katie Wood, of Greencastle, Ind.
Per Judy’s wishes, cremation will take place.
Celebrations of life will be held at St. Johns Church, in Centerpoint, Ind., and in Vermont on later dates.
