Janice J. Webster, 1939-2026

PROCTORSVILLE, Vt. – Janice Jean Webster, of Proctorsville, Vt., born Nov. 7, 1939, passed away peacefully in her home, after a long illness.

Janice was the firstborn of Pauline E. Smith (Bourne) and Richard E. Smith. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Donald Webster; her brother Nelson Smith; and her son Nathan Webster.

She leaves behind brother Richard Smith (Sheryl) and sister-in-law Sherry Smith; along with children Donald Webster Jr., Neil Webster (Kim), Alan Webster (Tre), Jennifer Paquette (Terry), and Veronica Webster (Karen); adopted son Dean Whitcomb; and grandchildren Ariana, Emma, Max, Sadie, Gavin, Ted, Vanessa, and Becky.

Janice was always volunteering her time, whether as a chaperone for school field trips, as a den mother for Boy Scouts, or as a helper in the kitchen at the Congregational Church. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mizpah Chapter, and she started the Chester Assembly of The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She was masterful at all kinds of sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Janice was such a good seamstress that she made the first uniforms for the Chester-Andover Elementary School Marching Band and the banner at GMUHS.

A graveside service and celebration of life announcement will be made at a later date.
