Daniel K. VanAmberg, 1946-2026 🇺🇸

BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – Daniel K. VanAmberg was born to Harold “Ken” and Margaret “Peggy” VanAmberg on Dec. 17, 1946, in Detroit, Mich., and passed Jan. 22, 2026, in Bridgeport, Conn., after a brief illnesses. Soon after graduating Utica High, he joined the U.S. Navy Submarine Service in 1966. He retired with rank E-8 senior chief petty officer on July 30, 1990.

On Aug. 8, 1966, he married Bonnie Ann Kathan, who passed suddenly in 1989, leaving Dan with his two sons, Mike and Chris.

In August 1990, Dan joined the Brattleboro Police Department as a dispatcher, retiring on Jan. 1, 2009.

Dan met his wife, Gina, in 1990, and they were married on Aug. 21, 1993. Dan and Gina enjoyed 33 years together watching their blended family grow. Mike married Ann and had two children, Ian and Sarah. Chris married Karen. Sonia married Rick and had two children, Kylie and Logan. David (Jessie) had a set of twins, Reese and Reagan. Lynne, now married to her own Dan, gave us two grandsons, Andrew and Nicholas. Lynne is grandma to our two great-grandsons, Greyson and Connor.

As per his wishes in 2016, he was entrusted to Quinnipac University and the trustworthy hands of Dr. Jesse Gomes. Memorial services will be held at the American Legion in Bellows Falls, Vt., on June 6, from 12-2 p.m. All are welcome to share thoughts and memories.
