SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Join the Springfield Town Library on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m., for “Unlocking the Dictionary,” a fascinating discussion with Merriam-Webster editor and lexicographer Michael Metivier.
Discover the stories behind the words we use every day as Metivier explores topics including words with multiple meanings, new slang, word controversies, how words are added to dictionaries, the newest edition of Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, and much more.
Metivier is an editor and lexicographer at Merriam-Webster, as well as a musician and poet whose work has appeared in journals including Poetry, Orion, and African American Review. Michael lives with his family in Windsor, Vt. His website can be found at www.michaelmetivier.com.
