SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Lisa Mobus recently shared insights from her Fulbright program experience in Colombia during a presentation to the Springfield Rotary Club.
Mobus, a Riverside Middle School teacher, visited South America last July through the Distinguished Awards in Teaching Research Program. She previously spoke to Rotary members about educational research programs, but this presentation focused more broadly on Colombia itself, including its geography, politics, and people.
During her talk, Mobus shared several photographs illustrating the country’s diverse climate regions, comparing Bogotá’s cooler, rainy conditions with the warmer climate of Medellín. She also highlighted Colombia’s colorful culture through images of local cityscapes and artwork.
Mobus also addressed questions from audience members regarding safety and how Americans are treated in Colombia. She said she never experienced animosity during her visit and noted that while she took normal precautions, she always felt safe throughout her stay.
