SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Through the Rotary Ideals Literacy Project, the Springfield Rotary Club has donated a set of books to every second and third grade student at Chester-Andover Elementary School, and the Union Street School in Springfield.
One of the books, “Andy & Elmer’s Apple Dumpling Adventure,” introduces children to the Rotary Four-Way Test, which encourages readers to consider: (1) Is it the truth? (2) Is it fair to all concerned? (3) Will it build goodwill and better friendships? And (4) will it be beneficial to all concerned?
The second book, “Becky & Lin’s Apple Orchard Park,” highlights Rotary’s motto, “service above self,” through a story about community members coming together to make a positive difference.
The Rotary Club of Springfield, founded in 1927, is an active community service organization with 30 members involved in a wide range of local and international service projects. To learn more, visit www.springfieldvtrotary.org.
