SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – The Springfield Town Library, 43 Main Street in Springfield, Vt., invites the community to participate in “Let Books Be: Protect the Freedom to Read,” a public reading event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of intellectual freedom.
From Monday, Oct. 5, through Friday, Oct. 9, community members are invited to gather on the front steps of the Springfield Town Library each day, at 1 p.m., to read aloud a passage from a banned or challenged book. Join fellow readers in giving voice to books that have been challenged or banned and celebrate curiosity, free expression, and every person’s right to choose what they read. Whether you read a favorite passage or simply come to listen, everyone is welcome to participate.
