ANDOVER, Vt. – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet L. Stoddard, a beloved wife, stepmother, grandmother, and friend. Janet departed this world on Oct. 2, 2023, after a long battle with cancer, at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, N.H., with her husband by her side. Janet was 55 years old.
Born on May 14, 1968, in Springfield, Vt., Janet was the daughter of the late John and Carol (Hella) Scullin. Janet was a 1986 graduate of Springfield High School, and continued her education graduating from Champlain College. She then went to work for Newsbank Inc. in Chester, and worked there for over 30 years. Over the years Janet had her “fun jobs” working part time at Jiffy Mart, as well as waitressing at Mr. Darcy’s.
Janet is survived by her husband Paul Stoddard of Andover, Vt.; stepdaughter Samantha Stoddard (Issiah) and granddaughter Berkley of Springfield, Vt.; brother John Scullin Jr. of Chester, Vt.; aunt and uncle Dick and Cindy Hella of Boise, Idaho, and their sons Mike and Matt; and aunt and uncle Donald and Deborah Scullin of Cavendish, Vt., and their children Angela and Andrew.
A Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held on Oct. 21, at 1 p.m., at the Grange in Bartonsville, Vt., a short service followed by a gathering to share stories and memories of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Janet’s honor.
Rest in peace, dear Janet. You will be deeply missed, but your fun loving spirit will forever be a part of the lives you touched while you were here.
