LUDLOW, Vt. – The Friends of the Library is hosting a book discussion on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m., in the Community Room at Fletcher Memorial Library. This meeting we are discussing “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI,” by David Grann.
This book is a true story highlighting the beginnings of the FBI. In the 1920s, members of the Osage Native American tribe of Osage County, Okla., are murdered after oil is found on their land, and the FBI decides to investigate. As a fledgling organization, mistakes were made during the investigation. “This book reads like a novel!” “A twisting, haunting, true-life murder mystery about one of the most monstrous crimes in American history.” “A fascinating account of a tragic and forgotten chapter in the history of the American West.” A film adaptation by Martin Scorsese staring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Brendon Frasier, will release on Oct. 20.
Join us in reading and discussing the book before the movie release. Books are available to borrow at the library. This program is free and open to the public.
