LUDLOW, Vt. – The Ludlow Community Center will be hopping on Friday, Oct. 9, from 6-8 p.m., with amazing music and lively step dancing. Don’t miss this great opportunity to hear, see, and try out some fun contra dancing, featuring live music led by Naomi Morse (fiddle), Amy Englesberg (piano), and Emmet McGowan (drums).
Contra dancing is family friendly, open to all ages, and most welcoming to new dancers. No experience is necessary. All dances are taught and guided by a caller. Feel free to come solo, bring your family or a friend, or even organize a group, or just come to listen – you’re sure to have a great time.
Contra dancing is done with live music and a caller, and does not involve any fancy steps or moves; it amounts to walking in time to the music. It is much easier than line dancing, and not so fancy as square dancing. Wear regular comfortable clothing with smooth-soled shoes to help you move comfortably.
This event, sponsored by Black River Good Neighbor Services, is free, and all are welcome. There will be light refreshments, together with donation jars to benefit the monthly community meal program. Now celebrating its fourth year of serving community meals, Black River Good Neighbor Services is most grateful for support from the community for this valuable program.
