Congolese rumba documentary screening at Springfield Library

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – On Tuesday, June 30, at 5 p.m., Root Sound Productions will present a special screening of the documentary “Congolese Rumba” at the Springfield Town Library.
Congolese rumba is more than just a musical style; it is a living memory, a cultural identity, and an African heritage celebrated around the world. Born from the meeting of African rhythms and Afro-Caribbean influences, it has inspired generations and shaped music across Africa and beyond.
This special screening will give audiences the opportunity to discover the rich history of Congolese rumba, its cultural and economic impact in Central Africa, its international influence, and the important role music plays in preserving traditions and bringing people together.
