CHESTER, Vt. – The 14th annual Big Buzz Chainsaw Carving Festival will take place Oct. 6-9, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day, at 1126 Route 103 in Chester, Vt. There is a small price for admission.
The Big Buzz is produced by Chester artist Barre Pinske, who started his chainsaw carving career in Minnesota 40 years ago. Pinske is considered by many of his peers to be a pioneer of the craft. As an example of that fact, Pinske thought up the idea of the Quick Carve event way back in 1984. During a Quick Carve event, artists create an artwork in an hour, then the pieces are auctioned off. Quick Carves are now done at carving festivals all around the world. Artists at the Big Buzz will be doing a Quick Carve at 1:30 p.m. each day.
If you are looking for an interesting fall event, the Big Buzz will check that box. Carvers will be creating and selling work, and the Chester Andover Snowmobile Club will be providing food for festivalgoers. For more information, see the Big Buzz Facebook page.
