Quilters interested in displaying quilts for the show can still contact Pam Russo at pamrusso56@hotmail.com.
Visitors will also get to see the results of all the preservation work done to the exterior of the building since our first quilt show in 2019, before the pandemic shut everything down.
The Athens Brick Meetinghouse is historically significant to the Windham County region, and particularly the 12 surrounding towns which comprised the “Old Athens Circuit” – Grafton, Rockingham, Townshend, Londonderry, Weston, Chester, Acton, Springfield, Landgrove, Windham, Putney, and Mount Holly. Circuit preachers from Athens traveled out to these towns to perform religious services. Quarterly camp meetings with the Methodist congregants from these towns often lasted two days at the Athens Meetinghouse, also known as the “Mother Church.”
Donations made to the Athens Historic Preservation Society are fully tax deductible, and will support ongoing efforts to preserve this national historic landmark.
