LUDLOW, Vt. – The Ludlow Rotary Club will host its annual chili cook-off on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., on Depot Street between Main Street and Pleasant Street, rain or shine. All proceeds will benefit the charities of the Ludlow Area Rotary Club. Admission includes chili, bread, ice cream, and cider.
The Ludlow Rotary Club invites all to participate in this festive, fun event. Chili entries are welcomed by individuals, clubs, and businesses. There is a small entry fee.
Participants will be provided with a table, a ladle, and sterno, and are responsible for arriving with their heated chili between 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. on the day of the event unless prior arrangements have been made. Participants must be ready to serve at 11 a.m. The Ludlow Rotary will provide the servers if you can’t attend, so even if you can’t be there, your chili can still win cash and recognition. Let the Ludlow Rotary Club know in advance if you need your chili picked up. Serving positions will be randomized.
Plaques and three cash prizes will be awarded in the People’s Choice category: $250 to first place, $150 to second place, and $100 to third place.
Plaques will be awarded to the chili with the most votes in the Judge’s Choice, Spiciest, and Team Spirit categories. Chili entrants are asked to provide 5 gallons of chili for this event to ensure there is chili to serve to the end.
