PROCTORSVILLE, Vt. – The tradition started by the Golden Stage Inn and Goodman’s American Pie continues. Join us on the Proctorsville Village Green, on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., for a day as sweet as honey, as we celebrate the bees that keep our world blooming.
Enjoy local vendors, live music, and a hive of festive fun. Whether you’re here for golden treats, handmade treasures, or toe-tapping tunes, there’s something for every busy bee in the family. Let’s make this a buzzing good time.
The honey-cake contest will also be judged during the festival. If you wish to enter the contest, you may drop off your cake on the day of the festival, by 11:30 a.m., at the judge’s booth – find Trevor Barlow, of Super Roasted Coffee. Judging begins at 12:30 p.m., and the winners will be announced immediately after judging.
Rules for the contest are as follows: A portion of the cake’s sweetness must come from honey; each entry must include a full recipe listing all ingredients; and cakes must be presented on a sturdy base or in a cake box. Each entry will be assigned a number to ensure blind judging and fairness.
Cakes will be evaluated on the following criteria: appearance, texture, aroma and flavor, and the influence of honey on the finished product.
Think “Great British Bake Off.” Judges will examine the cake – including the underside and sides – for proper baking, then cut into it to evaluate crumb, texture, and flavor.
