SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Join the Springfield Town Library on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m., and meet Vermont author and historian Thea Lewis for a fascinating look at the darker side of the Green Mountain State.
In her latest book, “True Crime Stories of Vermont,” Lewis explores more than a century of mayhem, mystery, and murder – from criminals living double lives and notorious serial killers, to an astonishing plot targeting a beloved pop star with a global fan base.
During this engaging author talk, Lewis will peel back Vermont’s reputation for wholesomeness and rural charm to uncover the intriguing– and sometimes chilling –stories hiding beneath the surface. Drawing on her extensive research, she’ll share the real-life characters, crimes, and unexpected twists that bring Vermont’s history to life.
True Crime Stories of Vermont is Lewis’ seventh book with The History Press. Her other works include “Haunted Burlington,” “Ghosts and Legends of Lake Champlain,” “Haunted Inns and Ghostly Getaways of Vermont,” and “Wicked Vermont.” She is also the author of the children’s book “There’s a Witch in My Sock Drawer.”
A Vermont native, Lewis created Queen City Ghostwalk, Burlington’s original haunted tour, in 2002. A historian and author, she has developed historic tours throughout the Burlington and Montpelier areas, and has earned the nickname “Vermont’s Queen of Halloween.”
Lewis’ passion for storytelling extends beyond nonfiction. In 2024, she won the Vermont Writers’ Prize for her short work of fiction “Farm Boy.”
Come hear Lewis share the stories she has uncovered through years of research, and discover the wicked, haunted, and true-crime history lurking in the Green Mountain State.
