REGION – Building on the success of its inaugural year in 2025, the Vermont Covered Bridge Society (VCBS) announces the second annual Vermont Covered Bridge Week, taking place Aug. 1-8. Proclaimed by Gov. Phil Scott and observed statewide during the first week of August, the week brings renewed attention to the society’s work to preserve Vermont’s historic covered bridges. This year, many communities have planned events centered around their covered bridges.
“It is my great hope, within a few more years, the first week in August will be the time to visit Vermont and see our amazing and historic covered bridges. We have so many! All worth seeing, all worth saving. This year sees the addition of guided tours in a ‘right-sized’ van, which we hope to continue every year during Covered Bridge Week in Vermont,” said VCBS President Beth Brown-Limmer.
On Saturday, Aug. 8, there will be a guided covered bridge tour in Rockingham. Small-group guided tours to four historic covered bridges will leave from the Vermont Country Store in Rockingham at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. Reservations required; text 802-222-1573 to purchase tickets.
