CAVENDISH, Vt. – Continuing the 250th anniversary celebration of the Declaration of Independence, the Cavendish Historical Society (CHS), with the Cavendish Library, will be holding a free paper-flower-making workshop on Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m., at the Cavendish Library, 573 Main Street in Proctorsville.
Faux flowers, made from paper, silk, and wire, were favorites of the Colonial period, and would have adorned clothes and hats, and been displayed as decorative items. While often imported from England, they’d also be made by milliners (hat makers).
While the April workshop will be focusing on red, white, and blue, other options will be available. Note that some hats will be available for decorating, but the supply is limited, so first come, first served.
This is a free workshop open to the public. Donations are appreciated and welcomed. For more information, email margocaulfield@icloud.com or call 802-226-7807.
