Springfield Area Adult Day Services to close on Sept. 30

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Springfield Hospital announced recently the planned closure of its Springfield Area Adult Day Services, effective Sept. 30. The decision follows an extensive evaluation of the program and careful consideration of numerous alternatives to closure. Despite exploring multiple options, no sustainable financial path forward was identified.

“This decision was not made lightly,” said hospital CEO Bob Adcock. “For many years, Springfield Area Adult Day Services has been honored to serve its clients and their families with compassionate, person-centered care. We are deeply grateful to the participants, families, caregivers, staff, volunteers, and community partners whose trust and support have made this work possible.”

The program is committed to supporting participants and their families throughout the transition. Enrolled individuals will receive information about other adult day programs in the region, and staff will work closely with each participant and family to answer questions, provide guidance, and help facilitate a smooth transition.

Springfield Hospital is also working closely with the 13 impacted employees to connect them with available employment opportunities throughout the hospital.

As this chapter closes, our commitment to serving our community remains strong. Visit www.springfieldhospital.org/adult-day-service for more information.
