Practice tai chi without leaving your chair

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Learn the most popular style of tai chi right from your seat. Following the principles of safe and effective practice, explore the upper body movements of the Yang 24 sequence in an accessible, simplified way with Tai Chi Vermont teacher and Springfield resident Jo Bregnard.

Whether you’re looking for a wellness routine that fits your physical needs or an easier way to learn the world’s most-practiced tai chi form, seated yang will engage your brain, awaken your core, and release tension. Each class will include qigong warmups and cooldowns, with the option to explore the movements standing. Even while seated, participants will work on deliberate weight transference, healthy posture, relaxed breathing, body awareness, and movements to improve balance and agility.

Class meets for 12 Tuesdays, June 9 through Aug. 25, at 10 a.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse in Springfield, Vt., 21 Fairground Road, and via Zoom livestream online. Classes are 60 minutes, and timestamped recordings will be posted afterwards so you can access them on your schedule, whether you’re able to attend the live session or not.
