Online workshop helps prevent Type 2 diabetes

REGION – More than one in three American adults has prediabetes, a condition that often has no symptoms but can lead to Type 2 diabetes and other serious health problems. The good news is that it can often be prevented.

My Healthy Vermont is offering a free online diabetes prevention program developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Research shows the program can reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by 58%.

The year-long program includes 26 sessions led by a trained lifestyle coach who provides guidance, support, and practical strategies for making healthy lifestyle changes. Sessions begin weekly, then meet every other week, and finally once a month. All meetings are held on Zoom. The next program begins Monday, July 13, from 12-1 p.m.

To learn more or register, visit the My Healthy Vermont website, www.myhealthyvt.org, or call 802-859-5913. My Healthy Vermont also offers free workshops on chronic disease management, chronic pain management, and quitting smoking.
