Green Mountain Children’s Center relocates to North Charlestown facility

NORTH CHARLESTOWN, N.H. – Serving Charlestown, Claremont, and the surrounding area since 2006, the nonprofit Green Mountain Children’s Center (GMCC) has relocated from its Claremont location, on Charlestown Road, to a new facility located at 509 River Road in North Charlestown, N.H.

A community pillar providing a variety of essential family and child services throughout the Upper Valley, the move to this new facility allows for much more open space and easier access to the facility for families, especially during the school year.

GMCC’s childcare and early learning programs offer quality childcare and education to children ranging from the infant stage (6 weeks) up to 5 years old, ensuring a clean and safe space for kids to learn, play, and develop both mentally and physically.

The classrooms are divided into four learning groups: 6 weeks to 2 years old, early preschool, preschool, and a pre-K classroom, with each providing a specific structure and curriculum for the children, such as developing their vocabulary, creativity, and social skills.

GMCC also participates in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which provides nutritious breakfast and snacks for the children at no extra cost to families and guardians, an essential element to the proper development of kids of all ages.

CACFP offers meal patterns with minimum size servings, providing whole, nutrient-dense foods that adhere to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which includes a protein-enriched, low-sugar and low-sodium breakfast menu such as eggs, meat, or beans; and a serving of fruit, grains, and vegetables.

GMCC’s longstanding goal remains to continue caring for children in the community and providing families with a safe space to encourage education and social-emotional development, and to cultivate curiosity and learning.
