LONDONDERRY, Vt. – Londonderry Volunteer Rescue Squad (LVRS) is hosting an emergency medical technician (EMT) class starting Oct. 12. It will run through March 15, 2027, and will meet at the LVRS building, 6068 Route 100, Londonderry, Vt.
Emergency medical technicians are trained to respond to calls for medical treatment outside of a hospital setting. Their role is to quickly assess and document a patient’s condition and determine what treatment they may need. They are expected to provide medical treatment to the level of their training, prepare the patient for transport to a hospital, and assist in transport to the hospital.
This course is a mix of self-directed learning and in-person training. There are online lectures and quizzes, and the class will meet in person Mondays, from 6-9 p.m., and one Saturday a month, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. This class costs $750, but tuition will be refunded if, after successfully completing the class and becoming state and nationally registered, the student becomes a full member of LVRS.
