CLAREMONT, N.H. – Longtime Claremont resident Rebecca Mitchell-Mead dreamed of opening her own retail shop; the perfect space recently became available, and she took it. New Life Consignment LLC, featuring used and vintage items, is officially open as of May 29.
Mitchell-Mead grew up in nearby Springfield, Vt., and has been a resident of Claremont, N.H., for nearly 30 years. She shared that, for 22 years, as a vendor in local area craft fairs, she sold her own dried floral crafts, and she has a love of farm-style decor.
Mitchell-Mead has had a long career in retail as a longtime employee of Circle K/Irving; she mentioned working for the company in total for 36 years, most recently at the Newport, N.H. location for approximately 18 years. But, recently, she had been wanting an opportunity for a better work-life balance, and had been wanting to build a business for herself. The retail space, located in the same building as One Stop Postal Shop, became available on May 2.
“I have always wanted to open my own retail store, and so it’s my dream, and I had been collecting items,” Mitchell-Mead explained. She said that when this prime location became available, she decided that the time was right to start her own retail business and open her own store.
New Life Consignment LLC welcomes new and used brand-name clothing, furniture, and unique items for consignment. You may bring your new or used clean, undamaged brand items to the store for consignment approval, during operating hours, or call for an appointment for an on-site visit for estate sales or large groups of items. All items accepted for consignment will change seasonally, with a 50-50 split on consignment.
Booth space is available for rental in four-foot sections. All merchandise for approval must be “family-friendly” merchandise only, please.
New Life Consignment’s weekly operating hours are Tuesday-Friday, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and Saturday, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The shop is located at 11 Bowen Street in Claremont, N.H. For more information, call 603-543-7960.
