Londonderry discusses upcoming meetings

Londonderry, Vt.

LONDONDERRY, Vt. – At their May 4 meeting, the Londonderry Selectboard discussed their upcoming special town meeting, which will be held Monday, May 11, at 6 p.m., to vote on raising $81,000 in taxes to pay the salary and benefits for a full-time general office manager. The results will be published in next week’s edition of The Vermont Journal, and online at www.vermontjournal.com.

Town Administrator Aileen Tulloch reported that renovations at the town hall are underway. Residents will notice that the windows are boarded up, “which is a good thing,” she stated, as they are being repaired. Tulloch also announced that Stevens & Associates recently had a site visit at the town hall, and is in the beginning stages of the master plan for the renovations and repairs.

The new logo design for the town was presented again, with edits suggested to remove the covered bridge and the church, and to incorporate imagery of the town hall. The board also agreed that removing the extra verbiage would give it a cleaner look and allow the design to be scaled down for documents and paperwork without losing the legibility of the text. The new logo will keep all town documents and emails, and the website, consistent in their branding.

The board then heard from Esther Fishman, who announced the 50th anniversary celebration for the Mountain Valley Health Center, which will be held at the clinic on Saturday, June 20, from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Overflow parking will be available at Flood Brook School. “It’s a good thing to have the clinic in our little town for 50 years,” Fishman said proudly.

The board moved to approve the closure of Spring Hill Road for the duration of the work to be done on a culvert under the road, which is anticipated to take place late summer.

The warning for the public hearing to discontinue Monet Lane was signed. Monet Lane exists in both Londonderry and Windham, so a joint meeting will take place, with board members and interested residents able to attend to voice any concerns or agreement to discontinue the roadway, which essentially no longer exists. A site visit at Monet Lane will be held on Monday, June 15, at 4:30 p.m., with the public hearing to follow at the Windham School building, at approximately 5 p.m., when all interested parties return from the site visit. The results of the meeting will be reported that evening at the Londonderry Selectboard meeting.

A soft launch for remote meetings via Zoom occurred on May 4. A Zoom link for meetings will now be available on the town’s website, www.londonderryvt.gov, and on the meeting agendas moving forward. It will be a permanent link, which allows it to be bookmarked for ease of use.

The Londonderry Selectboard meets on the first and third Mondays of every month, at 6 p.m., at the Londonderry Town Office.
