CHESTER, Vt. – There is a new venue on the historic Green in Chester this fall. Welcome to “Chester Celebrates Special Vermont Foods.”
On Saturday, Sept. 19, in an old-fashioned festive fall atmosphere showcasing more than two dozen scarecrows made by local business owners and residents, you have an opportunity to meet almost 20 Vermont food producers who make their living creating amazing tastes to take home and enjoy. Many of them will be offering samples of their products so you can try before you buy, from honey to maple products, specialty breads, jams, pickles, candy, and hot sauces to name a few, we are bringing the special flavor profiles of Vermont to you.
There will also be other vendors set up on the outskirts of the Green with crafts, woodworking, a spring bulb sale from Chester Townscape, handmade walking sticks from the Chester Conservation Commission, and a plethora of fiber items created by Vermont small and micro businesses. The Chester Historical Society will be open and offering cemetery tours several times that day. Hikes will take place on the Brookside Trail throughout the day, guided by the Chester Conservation Commission. The Whiting Library will be holding its annual book sale as well.
A food court in the center of the Green will be home to several entrepreneurs, making their own take on specialty sandwiches, tacos, apple pie, maple cotton candy, and more.
This is a free event, open from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and offers easy walking on the Green and access to all of the businesses that frame it.
