BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – Now you can beat the heat and grab a bag and a bargain this month at the Community Closet, located at the Immanuel Episcopal Church, 20 Church Street in Bellows Falls. To make room for fall clothing, the shop is holding a bag sale for the entire month of August.
“Shoppers can fill a bag with any combination of summer wear: cropped pants, breezy dresses, shorts and tops, bathing suits, and cool accessories,” Nancy McAuliffe said in a recent interview. McAuliffe is the senior warden of the vestry at Immanuel Episcopal Church.
“Whether preparing for next summer, or wrapping up this summer in style, now is the perfect time to browse the racks and save. Come visit and support a great cause, and stock up on summer essentials before they’re all gone.”
Founded by and located at the Immanuel Episcopal Church, the Community Closet offers adult clothing and other essentials to those in need throughout our community. Originally they offered all types of clothing, and accepted anything and everything.
However, while temporarily closed during the Covid pandemic, they decided to redirect their focus on accepting and offering clean, lightly used adult clothing only. In the transition, all children’s clothing was donated to Busy Bees Children’s Clothing Hive, located at 17 Rockingham Street in downtown Bellows Falls.
All the proceeds from the Community Closet go back into our community at year’s end, and SEVCA vouchers are gladly accepted. Only gently used, clean, adult clothing donations are accepted during open hours.
The Community Closet is located at the Episcopal Church, and can also be accessed via the driveway/parking lot around the corner from the church at 9 School Street. They are open on Wednesday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Contact by phone at 802-463-3100, by mail at P. O. Box 64 in Bellows Falls, or by email at immanuelepiscopal@gmail.com.
