Traditional barn dance in Weston
October 8, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
WESTON, Vt. – A traditional New England barn dance is a community dance for young and old, singles and families, enthusiasts and skeptics. Live fiddle music is a must; a barn is bonus. At a community dance, no prior experience is necessary. Several simple moves are taught as the evening progresses, and they are used in various combinations. Each dance is taught in a walk-through first. In some dances partners progress together, but in others one’s partner changes, often in fun ways.
On Oct. 8, 6:30-8 p.m., such a dance is being held in Weston, in an old barn. Jill Newton’s band is providing foot-tapping live music. “Hootin’ and Holleran” (Ruth Holleran) is teaching and calling the dances.
Space is limited, so please email Rob Fisher at wildtemple@aol.com to get on the list and get details. Wear layers, bring a water bottle, and come with finger food for the snack table.
