Rich Cove Ferns

August 17 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$10 – $15

Moist cove forests are some of the prettiest fern sites around. They host a suite of ferns that don’t grow in other places. During this workshop, participants will meet four fern species that advertise the fertility of the soil. Ferns that like other woodlands also thrive in rich soils. We will spend some time with these common, widespread species as well.

BEEC naturalist and fern fancier Patti Smith will lead this workshop. The workshop will begin around picnic tables taking a close look at what makes a fern a fern, and meeting the species that will be encountered in the field. Then we’ll head out to BEEC’s rich cove to meet them where they live.

The trail is hilly, but we won’t be moving fast. The total distance will be about .5 miles. Learn more and register at www.beec.org/what-we-do/public-programs-and-events/walks-talks
