Free
PLYMOUTH, Vt. – The Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site in Plymouth, Vt., will host the final Grace Coolidge Musicale of the 2023 season on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. This free event will feature Cecylia Barczyk and Elizabeth Borowsky (a mother-daughter duo), who will perform music for cello and piano.
Enjoy a kaleidoscope of characters in variations by Beethoven and Paganini on celebrated melodies by Handel and Rossini. Marvel at the complexity of the rarely performed Bach’s Gamba Sonata in D Major, and discover the marvelous Sonata by Luise Adolfa LeBeau. Explore the musical imagination of David Popper. Experience virtuosity in every way!
The piano featured in the concert was a gift from the Baldwin Company to First Lady Grace Coolidge. It is believed to be the first piano to ever fly on an airplane, and it was famously played by the Russian virtuoso Sergei Rachmaninoff, who was a favored guest of the Coolidge family.
