Claremont Historical Society Annual Meeting
October 16, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
CLAREMONT, N.H. – The Claremont Historical Society will host a Historic Program and Annual Meeting at the Claremont Senior Center, 5 Acer Heights Road, on Sunday, Oct. 16, from 3–5 p.m. featuring Dr. Steven C. Eames.
Dr. Eames was a Professor of History for thirty-five years, researching the impact of war on both soldiers and civilians. His published works include Sacrifice of Self: Nahant and the Civil War and Rustic Warriors: Warfare and the Provincial Soldier on the New England Frontier, 1689-1748. The former publication won the American Association for State and Local History Award of Merit, the Albert B. Corey Award from the American Historical Association, as well as an award from the New England Museum Association. Dr. Eames has also worked at a living history museum and performed as a living history reenactor for fifty years, recreating a wide range of periods from the 1600s through the twentieth century. For the Claremont Historical Society meeting program, Dr. Eames will discuss the relationship between academic history and living history and how these two approaches differ, interact, and inform each other.
“The relationship between these two approaches is fascinatingly complex” notes Dr. Eames, in a description of the intended discussion.
Admission to the historic program and annual meeting is free and open to the public, although donations are encouraged.
