Alfred Hitchcock and the Art of Suspense
June 17, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeMOUNT HOLLY, Vt. – Alfred Hitchcock famously said “Some films are slices of life; mine are slices of cake.” Film expert Rick Winston will discuss the evolution of Hitchcock’s craft at the Mount Holly Town Library, exploring themes, his relationship with collaborators, and his sense of humor no matter how grisly the subject matter. By drawing on 12 film clips, starting with his 1925 silent “The Lodger,” and moving on to classics such as “Notorious” and “Rear Window,” Winston will illuminate the arc of his brilliant career. This presentation is sponsored by Vermont Humanities through its Speakers Bureau program, and is Ffree and open to the public.
