The Ludlow Rotary Club (LRC) wishes to thank the many community members who supported our recent drive to collect back-to-school items for the Pine Ridge Reservation, home to the Oglala Lakota Nation in southwest South Dakota. The reservation spans 1.7 million acres. The nation faces severe challenges – constantly ranking as one of the poorest areas in America. The school districts simply do not have money for any school supplies for the children.
The donation of crayons, glue sticks, and erasers will be combined with other items and placed in backpacks to be delivered to the reservation. Rotary Clubs in the entire District 7870 are contributing to this community service project for our country, so it will certainly have a significant impact. The children will certainly be better equipped to attend school and learn at the start of the school year. We also greatly appreciate the businesses that were our drop-off points: Belmont Country Store, Benson’s Chevrolet, Chloe’s Market, Ludlow Insurance, Fletcher Memorial Library, M&T Bank, and Singleton’s Store. You are all greatly appreciated for your part in this project.
