CLAREMONT, N.H. – There have been a variety of new businesses popping up in the Claremont area, mixing nicely with already established companies and adding to the overall success of the community. From interesting retail and specialty shops, to quaint cafes and boutiques, to restaurant and bar establishments, the variety of these choices adds vibrancy to the local shopping experience.
The Cardinal Cafe, an eatery located at the Glidden Street building which formerly housed the One Way Bakery, was launched in March by owners, longtime friends, and Stevens High School graduates Sandra Lefebre and Debbie Richards. This unique cafe offers a classic diner menu for breakfast and lunch.
Another local eatery, Putnam & Co., opened this spring inside the historic downtown Odd Fellows Block and serves up quality variations of your classic burgers, sandwiches, hot dog platters, macaroni and cheese made from scratch, a kids’ menu, and more.
One local retail specialty shop, Ravenhouse Guitar, located on Pleasant Street, offers a select variety of both electric and acoustic guitars, amps, and accessories. It also provides everything from music lessons and a professional repair shop, to music therapy sessions and consignment services.
The Wheel House bike shop, located on Robert Easter Way in Claremont, is another thriving business offering the retail sales of a variety of bikes, including mountain/gravel, electronic and kids’ bikes, and accessories and repair services as well. The Wheel House also operates the local Arrowhead MBT Trails and host various community bike rides and events.
Also located on Pleasant Street, The Apairy is a gift and creative arts and crafts space with a diverse clientel, including artists and creators, art builders and craft makers, entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in creating. Speaking of The Apairy, The Dough Co. is a new micro-bakery creating from the aforementioned space, offering fresh-baked goods including its signature sourdough sandwich loaves, as well as double-pesto focaccia and rotating cookie specials including its specialty cookies and cream cookies.
