SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – The Springfield Community Band is planning to present two concerts in the next week.
The first is a pop/rock concert in Ludlow, Vt., to be held on Sunday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m. on the high school lawn, 43 Main Street.
James Pecsok will direct the band as it looks back many decades to play the music of rock legends Led Zeppelin, Chicago, The Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and the boy bands of the ’80s and ’90s. This concert will rock. Please bring a chair.
In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Ludlow Town Hall auditorium. Please consult the band’s Facebook page for change-of-venue information.
The Springfield Community Band will also play in Springfield on Tuesday, July 28, at 7:30 p.m., at the Hartness House, 109 Front Street.
This concert’s focus is jazz. Nick Pelton will direct. To get in the mood, the concert starts with “Razzmatazz,” a jazzy march by Matthew R. Putnam. Among the other offerings will be several medleys that sample the compositions of jazz greats Dave Brubeck, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong.
In addition, the band will play Dule Ellington’s “Caravan,” and the timeless and beautiful “Autumn Leaves” by Joseph Kosma.
The jazz concert is an audience favorite, and not to be missed. Please bring a chair. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
